“So do all who live to see such times…”

Today was one of the worst days I’ve had in the past year. Terrible things compounded in on each other.

For some reason, Frodo and Gandalf’s conversation came to me from the Lord of the Rings. At that point, Frodo turns to Gandalf and wishes he never had to carry this burden. That the ring never had come to him. To which Gandalf replies, “So do all who wish to see such times, it’s up to you with what to do, with the time that’s been given to you.”

Now I may have the quote slightly off, it’s been years since I’ve seen it. However, the essence remains the same. Terrible things happen, to most people, but it’s your responsibility to decide what to do with what you’re faced with. It’s hard, it’s terrible, but you can be crushed by it, or do the best you can do with it.

Life lessons I guess. I had to pull some from one of my favorite fantasy stories of all time.
