Richard knew he had said the wrong thing, but too much time had passed.
He drank another swig of his black coffee. There had just been so much work and other things to take his attention away, apologizing had been the farthest thing from his mind. Usually, he took his coffee with sugar, and he recoiled a bit at the bitterness.
Looking at his phone, Richard pulled up his former best friend’s contact. How could he make it right? He could just apologize? It had been half a year though. What would he say? Should he bother? It still haunted him. Sure his friend had been a jerk, but so had he. He stared at the contact. Another message came through from his boss to get back to the office for a meeting…
No time… maybe another day.
